Genesee Region Real Estate Information Service (GENRIS)

Member of the Greater Rochester Association of REALTORS®, Inc. (GRAR) can participate in the Genesee Region Real Estate Information Service, Inc. (GENRIS®), a wholly-owned subsidiary of GRAR.

Through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), GENRIS disseminates real estate information to more than 3,000 GRAR members.  REALTORS® may choose to participate with GENRIS®, which gives them access to services, including:  electronic lock boxes, electronic key cards, and most importantly, the listing data.  These services are often critical to the sale of the property, or to finding a new home.

Although the majority of our members are GENRIS® participants, those who do not participate often deal in specialized areas of real estate, other than residential, such as commercial, or property management.

Launched in 1995, www.homesteadnet.com, GRAR’s public website was the first to provide local listing information to the public.  HomeSteadNet® is widely used in the Greater Rochester/Finger Lakes region and contains the most complete local listing database.

In September 2003, GENRIS® converted to a completely Internet-based MLS service.  Years ago, prior to computerization, information on homes and properties that went on the market reached members and consumers in approximately 10 days.  Today, that same information is available within seconds.

The current MLS service can provide our member’s clients with automated email alerts within minutes of any new property and/or price change on the market that match the client’s criteria.  In this way, buyers are made aware of any new listings and sellers are provided immediate exposure for their property.  Ask a REALTOR® how to get started with this program for your home purchase.
