Run for the GRAR Board of Directors

The GRAR Board of Directors is the governing body of the Greater Rochester Association of REALTORS®. Below are some reference links and information on how to run for a seat on the GRAR Board of Directors.

Qualifications for being a GRAR Director

(a) All candidates must be REALTOR® Members in good standing with the Association at the time candidates are nominated and would take office.

(b) Candidates for Directors shall have served on an Association committee for one (1) year within the past five (5) years.

(c) Candidates for the office of Secretary-Treasurer shall have served, at the time they take office, on the Board of Directors for at least one (1) full year within the past five (5) years, and shall have served on the Finance Committee for at least one (1) full year within the past five (5) years ;

(d) Candidates for the office of President-Elect shall have served, at the time they take office, as an Officer or Director for at least one (1) full year within the past five (5) years .

2021 Election Timeline

Wednesday, September 1st

Governance Committee solicits for openings for Director(s) & begins accepting applications (Applications are checked for qualifications and the interview slot scheduled upon receipt.)

Monday, September 6th

Deadline for the President to request a second year

Friday, September 24th (2:00 pm)

Deadline to submit applications to run for Director

Tuesday, October 5th 1:00-5:00 pm

Governance Committee interviews candidates

Friday, October 8th

Governance Committee submits report of ‘endorsed’ slate to President [GRAR Bylaws Sec. 11.5, ¶ 2]

Monday, October 18th (8:30 am)

Ballots e-mailed to Members *Members notified of Governance Committee’s ‘endorsed’ slate (and others) appearing on ballot at least 21 days prior to Election Meeting [Sec. 11.5, ¶ 3]

Thursday, October 28th (4:30 pm)

Ballots must be received *10 days from ballot first being e-mailed out [Sec. 11.5, ¶ 3]

Monday, November 8th (9:00 – 10:00 am)  Election Meeting

‘Walk-in’ voters cast ballots; All ballots are tallied immediately following the Meeting

Wednesday, November 17th

2022 Board of Directors meeting to elect 2022 GRAR Officers *Within 10 business days of Election Meeting, ensuing year’s directors meet to elect officers [Sec. 11.5, ¶ 8]
